The delicate beauty and gracefulness of the Black Necked Stilt is always a source of pleasure for me to observe. These gentle birds are easily spotted in shallow freshwater and saltwater areas because of their extremely long pink legs and long needle-like bill they where they stand out from other wading birds immediately. This original etching is created using 5 separate plates that are hand wiped with various colors of inks. It is printed one plate at a time and each plate must be placed on the paper with absolute precision to make this piece work. It is hand printed on fine rag paper and then meticulously hand painted with watercolors. The subject is depicted actual size. Because each etching is individually hand painted, no two are ever the same.
